Be adventurous and experience something new! . . . such as sledding at White Sands National Monument in New Mexico . . .   or, perhaps, driving through the access tunnel to Whittier, Alaska. The only land route to and from Whittier is through steep mountains, hence trains and motor vehicles take turns passing through a multi-use tunnel to reach this coastal town and its deep-water port.  At 2.5 miles, it is the longest highway tunnel in North America.  The portal buildings like the one shown below, were built to withstand avalanches!...
